Thomas Alan Tetting, Death – Beloved Resident of Wescott; Passed Away on May 9

The Town of Wescott community is mourning the peaceful passing of Thomas Alan Tetting, who died on Saturday, May 9, 2026, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with Interstitial Lung Disease. His departure marks the end of a remarkable life defined by public service, education, and devotion to his loved ones. Tom’s legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him.

Born on August 1, 1951, and raised in Pewaukee by Kenneth and Dorothy (Moll) Tetting, Tom dedicated his life to serving others. He began his career as a police cadet and correctional officer, rising through the ranks to become Police Chief in the Waukesha County area.

He later served as Municipal Judge for the Village of Pewaukee, earning respect for his fairness and integrity. Alongside his distinguished law enforcement and judicial career, Tom spent 25 years as a criminal justice instructor at Waukesha County Technical College, shaping the next generation of public servants.

Tom’s commitment to excellence was reflected in his education. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, his master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater, and was a proud graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. These achievements underscored his dedication to professional growth and his lifelong mission to serve his community with honor.

In August of 1996, Tom married Barbara (Smith) Tetting, and together they celebrated nearly 30 years of marriage. They were blessed with two sons, Caden and Tristan, and later relocated to Shawano Lake, where they enjoyed fishing, boating, and countless family adventures. Tom found joy in his hobby farm, riding tractors, bike riding, traveling to Florida, and reading. Yet his greatest joy was always his sons, with whom he shared his time, wisdom, and love.

Tom is survived by his wife Barbara; his sons Caden and Tristan; his sister Marge (Jim) Gozdowiak; his brother Keith (Nancy) Tetting; his father‑in‑law Walter Smith; brother‑in‑law DuWayne Smith; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Dorothy Tetting; his mother‑in‑law Consuelo Smith; and his brother‑in‑law Walter Smith.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Parish in Cecil, Wisconsin, with visitation beginning at 11:30 AM. Tom will be remembered for his strength, integrity, and devotion to family and community. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
